The Agadir Mag take

Khaymat Al Mandi sits above the chaos of Boulevard Hassan II in an unpromising complex—walk past the ground floor and you’ll miss it entirely. That’s where the surprise ends. Five reviewers unanimously praise the food, and they’re not exaggerating.

The mandi (lamb, camel, or chicken) arrives as a proper communal affair: meat tender enough to surrender to pressure, rice fragrant and properly seasoned, portions engineered for four people to share without restraint. One diner paid 300 MAD for two with water and didn’t flinch. The kabsa and maklouba land with similar conviction. Three house sauces accompany everything—some brutal with heat, all worth using.

The floor-seating matters; it’s not theatre. Families gravitated here, kids included. Service runs neutral rather than effusive, which suits the food’s directness. One reviewer hesitated at the door, found the upstairs packed, and left impressed. This reads as a genuine Middle Eastern kitchen, not a tourist-bait recreation.

Ma sha Allah the food was lovely and the ambience was nice too with the seating on the floor. Just don’t eat too much or you’ll end up falling asleep after! We tried camel kabsa and the mandi lamb and both were good choices!

Probably the best place we ate in Agadir, me and my whole family, kids enjoyed the atmosphere, sitting on the floor around a massive plate of juicy and tender meat, very tasty. Customer service and wait time was great, rice was cooked to perfection, we had the mandi 1/4 ram and it was more than enough for 4 adults, portion size was big too! Would definitely come again!

Honestly we were so impressed - particularly given that when we walked up to the place it looked really empty (we even hesitated awkwardly going in). Turns out a lot of people were in the upstairs area. (I’m a bit picky with food and Agadir seemed like it was under a bit of a dry spell in terms of yummy meals for dinner close to our accommodation. But after carefully perusing reviews we chose this location.) Excellent large plates, very generous, and delicious variety of foods (Palestinian, Saudi, Afghani). We had the chicken Maklouba and the Lamb Kafsa. The latter was a particular highlight: the rice was super fragrant and well spiced. Meat was really juicy and deliciously seasoned. The dishes also came with a selection of 3 spicy sauces which were SO good (some very spicy, which I love). We also had the Ftouch salad which was nice and fresh. All in all, so delicious! Slightly more pricey than most local joints - total almost 300MAD with water for 2- but so worth it. Service is pretty stoic if you care about that sort of thing.

We had an amazing experience at Khaymat Al Mandi Restaurant! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We tried both the camel mandi and chicken mandi, and they were absolutely delicious — the rice was perfectly cooked and full of rich flavors, the meat was tender and juicy, and the spices were just right. The side sauces complemented the dishes beautifully and added an authentic touch. The portions were generous, the presentation was great, and the overall dining experience truly captured the traditional mandi style. Definitely one of the best spots for mandi — highly recommended for anyone who loves flavorful Middle Eastern cuisine!
