Sea Food Restaurant Sonaba

The Agadir Mag take
Sonaba trades on seafood boil spectacle—presentations that photograph well—but the kitchen’s consistency wobbles. Fish soup earns genuine praise, and when proteins arrive fresh, the sauce work justifies the bill. The seafood boil itself divides reviewers sharply: some find it “absolutely amazing,” others receive old shrimp and entirely hollow crabs. Staff are reliably warm and attentive.
The friction points matter. Reviewers consistently note the patio’s problem: beggars in visible distress linger between tables, and management doesn’t intervene. One visitor found the crab unmarked as out-of-season until complaint. Another thought portions justified cost; two others didn’t. Fish and chips arrived undersized. John Dory fillet with mushrooms landed well.
At 4.1 stars across 485 reviews, Sonaba benefits from good service masking uneven produce quality. Worth trying the fish soup. The seafood boil is a gamble.

I had the best fish soup i ever had in my entire life in this restaurant, the avocado salad was perfect too ! Highly recommend
Nice restaurant, friendly service. Food looked nicer than it tasted. Not worth the price as sauce wasn’t very flavorful and certain seafood was tiny and wasn’t edible like the crab
Heard about this place from a TikTok video, and although I saw mixed reviews, I did want to try for myself, hoping for the best. The concept of the seafood boil is very cool. The presentation looks so fun! Service was friendly, but they didn’t inform us that crab was not in season (until we mentioned what is said next..) We got the crab seafood boil, and unfortunately, the shrimp was old and mushy. We got a small crab included, but when you crack it open, it was empty. Not even small amount of meat was there, completely empty. I didn’t know that was possible. The positive, the small size was plenty for two people, and the sauce was very flavorful. I just wouldn’t say the price is worth it. Another thing to note: we moved inside the restaurant as many beggars who look like they are high on glue, are on the patio harassing you for food/money and they don’t go away when you tell them politely to. They continue to stand beside your table talking and talking.
We had such a great experience at seafood restaurant Sonaba. We ordered the seafood boil and it was absolutely amazing, fresh, perfectly cooked, and well worth the price. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a very clean and comfortable setting. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel at home from the moment we walked in. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with delicious food and a lovely vibe. Highly recommended if you’re looking for quality seafood or seafood boil in Agadir! We will definitely visit again.
Visited on Sunday 24/08/2025 Decided on having a fish dinner at this restaurant which was nice and clean. Was quiet when we arrived but was soon busy with local families arriving to enjoy the food. Ordered the fish & chips which came with tartare sauce and a salad. Not what we are accustomed to in the UK, nicely battered but very little flakes of fish and quite a soft delicate texture unlike traditional fish and chips. Also tried the John Dory served filleted with mushrooms and a creamy sauce.
