Surf Berbere
Hash Point, Taghazout, Agadir, Morocco
The Agadir Mag take
Surf Berbere trades on what it does well: beginner instruction and social infrastructure. Reviews consistently praise the teaching—Hussain appears genuinely skilled at patient progression—and the logistics. Staff handle transport, meals, group dynamics without visible friction. The beachfront location above restaurants works for most.
The accommodation itself is modest: basic apartments with private bedrooms but shared living spaces and bathrooms. Equipment is functional rather than premium. One review mentions poor café service, though it’s unclear whether that’s the hostel’s responsibility or a separate venue nearby.
Disagreement centres on value perception. High-raters accept the setup as a trade-off for good instruction and community. The 1-star review suggests service can be inconsistent. Solo travellers and beginner cohorts report genuine satisfaction; intermediates get support but aren’t the primary market.
Suits groups wanting structure and tuition. Reasonable for the price tier if you’re learning, less compelling if you’re already competent and want comfort or autonomy.

I have now stayed at Surf Berbere two times and can not recommend it more! Both times I have come in a group but due to the setting, even in a group it's great for meeting people whilst still having your own space. All the staff, from admin, to surf instructors and kitchen staff are extremely kind, helpful and welcoming. Couldn't recommend staying here more!
I stayed at Surf Berbere for 12 days and had an amazing experience from start to finish. It’s a great spot with excellent accommodation, very comfortable and well set up for surfers. What really makes this place special is the people. Huge kudos to Youssef, who organised everything so smoothly — from surf sessions to logistics — always helpful, professional and with great energy. And Hussain is hands down the best surf teacher I’ve ever had. Super patient, knowledgeable, and really focused on helping you improve. I made noticeable progress in my surfing during my stay thanks to him. Overall, an incredible experience. Highly recommended if travel Solo or if you want to improve your surf while staying in a relaxed, friendly and well-run surf camp. 🌊🤙
Unfortunately, I am a customer of this cafe, and I travel from a distant place to come here on my day off. I love the quiet atmosphere and the charming sea view. However, the waiter service was unfortunately not up to standard. We arrived at the cafe at 9:30 PM with two of my friends, and I was the one who suggested the place. We sat at a table overlooking the sea, and the waiter saw us but seemed reluctant to acknowledge us or even ask us what we would like to drink. A quarter of an hour passed, and we were still in that situation until I signaled to him with my hand. He told us, "The waiter will be right with you," and we waited for another ten minutes to no avail. We were eventually forced to leave disappointed. This is my last day in this place, unfortunately. You deserve a better level of service than this.
Had the best week at Surf Berbere. Genuinely a very special time. The town is amazing and the accommodation was everything we needed. It’s a very easy trip and the staff help you with everything. Very little thinking required. The surf instructors were awesome and most people were beginners, although for intermediates there was also a lot of support. Would 100% recommend and definitely planning to come back.
Great location on the beachfront with restaurants. Staff very helpful and organised. Surf instructors were very patient for new beginners. Transport provided to and from the surf locations and lunch was good every day. Wetsuits/surfboards could do with an upgrade but for a beginner they were fine. Accommodation is basic apartments with private rooms that lock and you share the living area/bathroom with other couples/guests. Showers were decent and warm.
